A few days ago I’ve started a series of article about ultimate soldier, you can read the previous article about the infantry unit (part 1 and part 2) or if you are looking the archers unit click here.

Today I’m taking on the cavalry. I unfortunately didn’t played that much with the cavalry, most of my heroes ended up being archer or infantry heroes.
So here the table of the cavalry

Cavalry Ultimate soldier 1 :

Hp Att Def Speed Load Cons Skill

White Stallionswhite

728         159 75 18 1680 56 Higher Unit Attack and less damage received while facing Archers.

Black Raiders
black

745    156 67 27 1650 55 Increased Unit Attack against Infantry.

Lionheart CavaliersLion

804    167 45 24 2220 74 Higher Unit Defense against Cavalry attacks.

Flying Monkey Brigademonkey

826    157 52 15 1650 55 Higher damage dealt to Infantry; less damage suffered from Archer attacks.

Iron-clad Cavalry

ironclad

660    154 98 24 1950 65 Higher Unit Attack and Defense while facing Cavalry.

Resource Cost :

  WOOD      STONE IRON FOOD TOTAL

White Stallions

1400       2250 840 1120 5610

Black Raiders

1380    1110 820 2210 5520

Lionheart Cavaliers

2960    2360 1110 960 7390

Flying Monkey Brigade

2220    1780 830 720 5550

Iron-clad Cavalry

1620    2080 1950 840 6490

Best attack

guojiacharge

Lionheart Cavaliers

Lionheart Cavaliers have the best attack of the tier-4 cavalry and they even have a little extra against infantry. However they lack defence (worst of the t4 cavalry and even worst that the T2 cavalry, which is really bad) if there lack of defence didn’t scare you off, it’s food per round consumption might make you think twice about grabbing them. At 74 they are the worst of the game even U2 use less food per round that the lionheart.

Runner up for best attack : White stallions

Best Tank (defence)

Iron-clad Cavalry

The Iron-clad have the best defense of all cavalry, so they are a perfect choice to have fast and tanky reinforcement. They however have a lower hp than other cavalry so I don’t know how much it’s make a difference in a fight though.

Runner up for best defense: White stallions

Glass canon

Lionheart Cavaliers / Flying Monkey Brigade

I’ve already explain that Lionheart Cavaliers have a terrible defense but the Flying Monkey Brigade is not far behind. At 52 it’s the second lowest defense rating of all cavalry.

Greediest

Lionheart Cavaliers / Iron-clad Cavalry

I like I said before Lionheart Cavaliers have the highest food consumption in the game making them the greediest unit. Iron-clad eat  a lot of your food too with a consumption of 65.

Best runner up:

White Stallions

Being no 2 in attack and defense, having a lower consumption and a skill that increases damage and reduce is damage receive vs archer, make the white stallion one of the favorite cavalry among CoK player that went with cavalry. Its only downside is that its cost structure is similar to most U2, you might have to use gold and coupon to change your iron to stone and wood.

Left overs ?

fight-with-horse

Black Raiders
Black Raiders are in a weird category, they have only 2 points of attack more than the Iron-clad (the last in the U1 cavalry group), they are in the middle in term of defense, they cost mostly food and their skill is against infantry which cavalry unit are already good against.

From what I see mostly in battle and in the forum it seem that the White Stallions and the Iron-clad Cavalry are CoK fan favorite.

There a poll you can check out and vote on the forum about the cavalry u1.

Check out my previous entry on the infantry and the archers.

A few day ago I’ve started a series of article about ultimate soldier, you can read the previous article about the infantry unit or if you are looking the archers unit click here.

armycomming

Like we saw in my last article, in terms of pure stats The Hammerfists and Chainmail Guard stands out has being either the best attack infantry unit or the best tank. But guess what they have similar cost structure and have a similar cost structure of most ultimate soldier 2 (call U2/T5 too).

Let break them down for you:

NAME WOOD STONE IRON FOOD TOTAL
The Hammerfists 1470 2350 880 1170 5870
Chainmail Guard 1780 2860 1070 1430 7140
Goliaths 4730 7580 2840 3790 18940

Ok let compare the total with the % of resource type use vs the total.

NAME WOOD STONE IRON FOOD TOTAL
The Hammerfists 25% 40% 15% 20% 5870
Chainmail Guard 25% 40% 15% 20% 7140
Goliaths 25% 40% 15% 20% 18940

As you can see they have the same cost structure than the U2.  in term of cost they will go well with a U2 with a different cost structure like the war elephant or if you go purely inf and want to do start with u1 and then only do u2 once you got the research or if you use gold and coupon to exchange resources, then the resources distributions doesn’t matter

hammer chainmail
The Hammerfists vs Chainmail Guard
-Same cost structure ( hammer fist cost less overall though)
-Same cost structure like U2
-Chainmail = highest def. & hp.  lowest att + def bonus def vs cav
-Hammer = highest att. for u1 but low def + dmg bonus vs all troop

More of the same thing ?

There are 2 other that have almost the exact same cost and theirs stats are pretty similar too, the halberdian and the Rattan Infantry. The Halberdian have only 1 point of attack than the rattan infantry but have more def (6 point) and is the third best defence in the infantry units. However, what I like with the Rattan infantry is that it has an bonus defense vs archer and more speed (easier to move around) and their cost configuration complement well the cost of u2 (infantry and archer) since it mostly use iron which is what U2 Inf/arche use less.

halbert rattan

Halberdian vs Rattan Infantry
-basically the same cost (mostly iron)
-RI better speed
-H good vs cavalry (extra def/att vs cav)
-RI high def vs archer (so better for attacking city)
-RI bonus damage vs infantry

Gimme ur Food punk !

Yellow Turban, Chargers and Broadsword Sentinels have one thing in common, they cost a lot of food compare to the other infantry unit. Out of the 3 the yellow seem to be the best since it has the highest attack and defense. However it skill can be misleading since it receives more damage and deal more damage, so the Broadsword sentinel(BS) might be tankier than them (the BS have higher hp too). Like I explain in my last post, the charger is a glass canon with is high attack but abysmal def (lower than a royal guard the tier 3 infantry). But the have a super high speed with 21 being even faster than some cavalry, it can make it useful for reinforcement. I personally don’t like the charger, in the current high archer with high leadership environment we have, they wont be able to land attack if they are not with high leadership hero.

yellow charger sentinels

Yellow Turbans vs Chargers vs Broadsword Sentinels
-have all high food cost (= not good)
-YT – 159/85
-YT –  Much higher damage dealt to all troop types in exchange for higher damage suffered.
-C  –  153/42 (less def than royal guard)
– C -Higher Unit Attack when attacking cities. Higher damage dealt to City Walls and Buildings.
-C  -best speed for a infantry unit
-BS – 129/71 – Higher Unit Attack and less damage suffered while defending cities.

Alone in the wood
Cost wise the Roving Gallant is the only unit that cost primarily wood which makes it a good complement to the U2 cavalry since it mostly cost a lot of stone and iron. Its skill reduce its damage dealt and receive, but considering it 52 of def (lower than

Like I said previously, Roving Gallant is probably one of the weakest infantry U1, it sole advantage is that its cost complement well the U2 cavalry (Rabid Horseman).

roving

Roving Gallants
-cost primarily wood
-150 attack/ 52 def
-skill reduce damage but reduce damage receive
-best speed for a inf after the charger

That all for the infantry you can check the pool (and vote) about which infantry unit is the best.

A few day ago I’ve started a series of article about ultimate soldier, you can read the previous article about how to get them and the archers.

Today I’m taking on the infantry, note that this article is mostly my personal opinion and some input from the members on the forum.
For my first tear down, I’ll focus only on stats, next part I’ll focus on cost.

Goliaths 1633 311 70 12 1890 63 none

Best Damage output:

The Hammerfists

The Hammerfist are the hardest U1 infantry hitter. It has the highest attack and the skill that gives extra damage against all units (Higher damage dealt to all troop types). Next unit would probably go to the yellow turban since it has the second best attack and have a skill that increases damage.

Tanker:

Chainmail Guard (highest hp and def)

A tank unit is determine by 2 thing its amount of hp and its def (which reduce de damage receive)  since the chainmail guard have the highest in both attribute it win without have any other contender. The next best in line is the yellow turban (again) with the second highest def but its skill that increases damage taken might be misleading, The Halberdian seem to be a good choice too.

Glass Canon:

Chargers / The Hammerfists

While they have high attack and offensive skill, they have about the same hp of a Royal Guard (T3 infantry) and have less defence. I don’t know if the Hammerfists skill “less damage suffered when attacked. “ really have an impact to help their survival but even if you exclude the cost Royal guards are probably better to tank than those 2.

Greediest unit:

Chainmail Guard

With the 71 of consumption they consume more food than almost all other Ultimate soldier (only the Lionheart Cavaliers consume more) and even more the Goliath (the U2). While the chainmail guard cost less food that other U1 it makes it up with its high consumption. If you’re going Chainmail guard keep that in mind so you have alot of food for them.

The WTF unit

Roving Gallants

Decent attack but very weak in defense (second lowest) but its skill make me wonder : “Less damage dealt in exchange for much less damage received. “ So it drop from being a good hitter too being an average hitter and average defender (still probably less than the rattan infantry and halberdian). Not a very good trade off honestly. (honestly we have to look at it’s cost to make sense with that unit)

The forgotten

Broadsword Sentinels/Rattan Infantry

I’ve usually go for the Rattan infantry but not only for the reason here mostly because of their cost (see next post). They have a decent attack/def ratio and its skill usually what predominant in most of the server I’ve played (a high inf/archer army with low cavalry count)

I actually never tried the broadsword sentinels seem cheaper tank than the chainmail guard (and better hitter) when defending cities. Might worth a try on my next server.

So what your favorite infantry unit ?

Next post I’ll compare them cost wise and give you some precious link.

I’ve started a post about the ultimate soldier recently, today I’ll talk about the archers ultimate soldier.

Archer are probably the most used unit in the game and with reason they are super efficient to defend, they gain an extra attacks while on the wall (that mean they get an extra square while defending not a guaranteed 2 attack), many good heroes have cool abilities with them (Deng Ai, Pang tong, etc) and the best U2 is almost undoubtedly the archer u2 the northern assassin.
But despite being the most used unit they lack the number of choice the Infantry and Cavalry have.
Here a quick summary of the u1/u2 archers.

U1 (T4) choice

With 163 attack power and it’s extra damage to all troop types the crossbow elite is the best U1 in term of raw damage output but lack the defense and they might just die before delivering a good blow. Qiang Guerrilla have the highest resistance and their ability give them extra longevity. Mongolian Sniper are just super strong vs cavalry.
The choice usually come down to chose between the quiang and the Crossbow elite since the mongolian sniper don’t offer much compare to the Crossbow elite and have basically the same price. From there
It’s depend on your heroes, style, your resources output (that can be changed though) and what U2 you’re choosing.
Since Crossbow Elite need the same resources distribution than some U2 (NA & Goliath)
I usually go for the Qiang Guerilla.

Note that if money and coupon are not a problem for exchanging your resource, then you might want to go with the Crossbow elite anyway since you can always change the other extra resource to the missing stone (usually) .
I personally rather not build u1 archer when I’m going NA since they use my archery ranges while building and since the NA take like week to finish a whole batch of 100/115, I rather have a mix of inf/arch or cav/arch.

More info on the forum :

Check the pool (and discussion) on which is the best U1 for archer.

Or this other pool.

I’m doing a little series of article on Ultimate soldier. In the following days I’ll post some article on each type of Ultimate soldiers.

What does U1 and U2 do?
Ultimate soldier are the strongest unit in the game, they are the most expensive unit and take forever to recruit. Once you chose them you cannot change your choice until you switch server. Note that there also a item you can use to reset your choice.

allresearch

How to obtain them :
For U1 you need : L10 of attack def of corresponding research for the unit type you want the U1 from
For U2 you need : L20 of attack def of corresponding research for the unit type you want the U1 from
Note : having L10 of attack def of 2 type of unit (like cavalry and infantry) give you the choice of both U1 but you can chose only one.

Coming soon :
U1/U2 spotlight : Archer
U1/U2 spotlight : Infantry (part 1 & part 2)
U1/U2 spotlight : Cavalry

This is kind of a update from my previous post :What to do everyday to maximize your army and heroes but I sometime cut in the in the middle of something and just log in grab some tax, build troop, move around my carrier and help my kingdom in an attack that I forget this stuff.

So here are the top thing I forget to do sometime that are important to do…

1-Greet your fellow brother: Sorry my brother if I forget to greet you, it just that it lost in the city interface. Click on a city, then city again then tavern then the last tab and sometime they’re not enough brother in your brotherhood so you can even click… So please go greet your brother, each time you do it you gain loyalty and you need to get to 41 of loyalty to get the brother in arm skill.

 BIA

2-Train in the cave for some xp (last 8hr so up to 3 time a day): I usually think about it the first time I login but forget to do it afterward. A friend of mine said, if your afraid of forgetting it, do it right away and if there only a few hours remaining, just cancel and restart for 8hrs so you maximize the amount of training your heroes get. And don’t give a little extra to you favorite heroes with some inspiration, specially when the boost is on.

3-Register battle royal: I log in the morning so this is never enable, when I come back it sometime already 5h00 PM PST. arrrg

A easy way to get gem and a extra tax, try to do it before 5h00 PM

battle-royal

Hum that not battle royal …just a image to fill point 3 and 4

4-Play resource war : It’s at 8h00 PM PST so don’t miss it. I tend to always miss it because 1- it so late and 2- at 8h30 it’s already to late. Its great way to get free resources. Check out the forum for more information.

image

5-Help your legion in legion league battle: This one can be easy to forget because sometime your legion leaders are human and forget to register your legion. If your legion is strong enough and you don’t have amnesic legion leader you have to remember to go sign in after 8h00 PM (which for some of us is late) and next day you have to go collect your silver ( If your legion win) before 5h00 PM…

If you manage to think about all of this you’ll get a good amount of extra silver the next day.

6- Donate to kingdom: I’m guilty of forgetting this one some time. But at the beginning of the server it essential that you help your kingdom and it will help you later. When there only one left when tend to forget…

7-Buy all gear at mystery shop: most of it is crap, so in the past I rarely visited it at all. Now it’s good to visit the mystery shop because you can recycle all the crappy gear since the update 1.4 so it’s good to go there and buy everything for a total of 15 gear and recycle everything you don’t like.

8-Recyle

Recycle all your crappy gear from point 7 and from the historical campaign. All sometime forget this because doing it is freaking (no swearing see) is boring. Click click click get some gem click click get some more, click click nothing …

It worth it but since it tedious I don’t always do it. I hope they will do like in three kingdom online and do batch recycle. You get so many gem if you do it every day and you can upgrade/enhance/refine/temper a lot of your gear after that.

gear-recycle

9-Login for free gift:

Now that they log us with the announcement I don’t forget it but I use to do.  Don’t forget to check if there any free gift, there almost free gift every day, sometime you have to do stuff to do it but it’s usually worth it.

10-Check to if there any new heroes (after awhile you might not to do that)

When you have all your heroes we tend to forget to check forget to check for new heroes, I actually got Deng Ai just by refreshing with 10 silver. Ok if you’re using gold you’re probably better to really forget checking heroes with silver, since you probably got a bunch of gold one already…

List of silver heroes

Click on the image to check Peng Guo awesome comics.

Other that are not there

Play bull-eye 5 time

Let be honest after doing bull-eye a bunch of time you get bored and never look back… I forget it but then I think of doing it I don’t do it anyway …

Play heroes roster 5 time

Same has Bull-eye but worst…

So what are the thing you tend to forget ?

I found a great video that explain everything you should know about the last CoK update.

[Clash of Kingdoms][Elite][L5][Overall Guide to Version 1.40]

Most people use their main heroes to do logistics work or convert to Siege hero.
However, with Brother-in-arms, your main hero is now a very powerful combat hero with crazy Area of Effect ability. Please start converting your main hero into a fighting machine. Rebirth and reassign stats to Leadership or Power, Enhance stats to increase Leadership or Power, give equipment to boost Leadership/Power, give ability for combat, passive abilities are preferred.

BIA

thanks to PigFace for the image

The Brother-in-arms ability is similar to Pang Tong Thunder Fury, and it can actually be much stronger if you organize with your brother well.
As described, the number of brothers from the same garden on the battle field affects the number of targets.
To maximize this ability, create a mailing list of all your brothers (in the garden).
Coordinate and place all the main heroes of the 10 brothers in the same city. The stats of individual hero may not be great, but together, the effect will be fearsome.
It will be like 10 Pang Tongs that hits 10 targets when the ability triggers.
For Brother in Arms skills, here is what I know so far (correct me if I am wrong):
1. Damage: Same like singular focus :  130%+ (10% x skill level)
Note:some source say is -10% less so it’s 120%+ (10% x skill level)
2. Trigger Rate: 40% Chance
3. AOE : 3 + (number of brothers in battle / 3) == so if all 9 brothers in battle AOE will hit 6 enemies (maximum)
Requirement:  when you main hero gain more than 40 loyalty (so 41+), the skill singular focus will change to brother in arm after server maintenance at 4am.

Troop type: all type of troop
Gear effect: every 1% gear effect is about 4.5% in damage
Skill level: every level gain additional 10% damage
Charge attack bar: 2000

Additional note from MingLi about the Tavern : some peoples say that after loyalty = 40 you need at least 5 members to greet each day or loyalty will decrease faster than it increase.

Special thanks to MingLi, Astute and Jitkilan (L10) for help on this guide

Yesterday we saw How to Enhancing & Upgrading and Tuesday we learned how to recycle, today we dig a bit on 2 other addition in the gear enhancement, Refining and Tempering.

Refining

gear-refine
Refining uses flaming jade to replace a stat or bonus of an item with a new random stat or bonus. The player is able to select the gear’s stat which will be replaced.
There is no risk to losing the gear using this feature. There is no limit to how many times an item can be refined. Mounts may now have their “Increased marching speed” replaced with a new stat or ability. It’s very useful to remove skill you don’t for other skill  or to improve mounts as by removing increased marching speed for something else.
before-refine

after-refine
Numbers of required flaming jade
White – 4x lvl 1 flaming jade per attribute change.
Green – 4x lvl 2 flaming jade per attribute change.
Blue – 10x lvl 3 flaming jade per attribute change.
Purple – 13x lvl 4 flaming jade per attribute change.

Tempering

gear-temper
Tempering increase the quality of you gear from crude to common (white to green gear) . However tempering is gamble since gears can be destroyed using this feature!
So, if you do not want to lose a particular gear, do not try to temper it.
I wasn’t able to actually try this feature yet because I wasn’t able to get any solid ice. From what I’ve heard  from other player it basically upgrade the color of your gear giving it a additional bonus. For example you can make a green gear become a blue gear therefore it gains an additional stat or bonus.

Thanks to death for is great guide on the new gear feature, really helped me to have more info (specially temper)

Clash of Kingdoms – Recycling your gear

Clash of Kingdoms Gear – Enhancing & Upgrading

Yesterday we saw How to recycle, today we dig a bit on 2 other addition in the gear enhancement, Enhancing and upgrading.

Enhancing

gear-enhance

It seems the same system has it used to be the max level of gears remains +10.
And you have to use mithril :

Mithril: Increases the enhancement level of gears.
Minor Mithril: Increases the enhancement level of gears upto level +5.

There a Rumor has it that the chances of enhancement have been reduced since mithril is now easier to come by because of recycling.

Check this link to the forum to have more info on how to enhance gear.
http://forum.koramgame.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=37906&extra=page=1

Upgrading

gear-upgrade

This is were you use your Yin Jades from the recycling.
Upgrading gears allows players to use Yin Jades to transform their items to a new version but beware that new gear will requires a higher level… Like this sun tzu manual that I upgraded to lv 62:

upgrading-lv62

What nice with upgrading you won’t lose any gears when you do it.
After each successful attempt the current stats on a gear are increased along with a higher minimum level. Along with these, the amount of yin jade required for the next upgrade increases. The minimum level for items now passes level 30 and a wide range of new items have been introduced including round birettas and gold rings. Note that upgrading may have no effect or reduce your bonus enhancement level, reducing didn’t happened often but something I upgrade and the item stay the same but the level go up…

Hope you liked this guide, I’ll bring another guide on gear enhancement tomorrow about tempering and refining.

Note: any resemblance to Death Guide is purely coincidental(lucky the auto-correct knew that one) in some part, inspirational in some other and almost identical in rare occasion.
If you want to check the original gem go here and tell Death that he’s awesome.
