The other day I was on steam looking what games were on sale. I was looking for a good strategy game to play, you know like Cossack, Starcraft or age of empire. So I’ve selected to strategy tag, on check out which game could be fun to play. I check out the first game of the list and wtf, it’s not a strategy it some kinds of shitty tower defense game. I check out the second game in the list, another tower defense game. I tell myself that probably the only one, the next one probably a RTS or TBS. I click on that third and to my dismay, it was still a fucking tower defense game.

It’s seem to me that the strategy game with complex AI and game mechanic that I use to love and cherish are at the same level of those boring, straight to play tower defense. For me tower defense is more a tactical game that a strategy game because you only have one strategy in that kind of game, align towers (plant, heroes, archer) and wait for enemy to die at their hand. The placement of these towers is just a tactical advantage not a strategy. These should be tag small game, tactical game tower defense, but not strategy game. These games are simple to do, much more casual and maybe sometime fun. However a tower defense is nothing compared to a well flesh out real time strategy or even good old turn base strategy game, I still mourn a time when the word strategy meant something not just a series of pixel randomly moving  to get shot by an inert tower.

For those who know me I’m a big fan of Starcraft 2 even though I’m pretty bad at it. So when I’ve heard that there is a RTS coming to the browser I couldn’t contain my self.  A group passionate gamers decided to create a platform to allow developer to build upon and from this platform they made a game call currently call project Atlas and it’s look pretty cool.

It’s been awhile since I haven’t posted a weekly update (the last one was on july 16th), since I started a new job I haven’t had time to work on the site that much. I’m trying to grow the site has well that why there more promo post recently and we are slowly gaining partners.

So I’ll do a bi-weekly or a monthly update so you can still see what cooking around the web but I will be able focus more on marketing side of the site.

Infinity blade 3

Plants vs. Zombies 2 is finally out

Plants vs. Zombies 2  Available Worldwide since august 14. I’ve talked a lot about this one (here, here and here) just go grab it already if you’re a fan of the original and if you’re not or you never played the original just download it and try it it’s “free to play”.

A ‘16-bit’ Nostalgia

A street fighter card battle game is coming out and a breath of fire on too. It seems it however just in japan for now but hopefully for everyone else we will get these game too. I actually a big fan of Breath of Fire and I would love to see it here.

I’m a big fan a sc2 (even though I’m really bad)  and I’m happy to know that Blizzard released an app to watch live stream games or replay. I usually watch the stream on twitchTV but it seems that the ‘Blizzard WCS’ App have more feature. I cool app to have if you’re a Starcraft 2 fan.
