I’ve talked about game company copying unscrupulously other games, I’ve recently stumbled upon a Plants & Zombies clone rebranded with one of my favorite comic book character Asterix.

I’ve talked a lot about the new “Plants vs Zombies” game but it’s actually the first time I found out that it’s copied/cloned. Social seem to be with these kind of clone, some developer copy from another in a different setting and release it in hope to get the traction from the previous copied game.

About Asterix

Fo those who don’t know who Asterix his check out the Wikipedia entry:

“Asterix is a series of French comics written by René Goscinny and illustrated by Albert Uderzo. The series follows the exploits of a village of indomitable Gauls as they resist Roman occupation. They do so by means of a magic potion, brewed by their druid, which gives the recipient superhuman strength. “

How come it’s a clone?

While the setting is definitely different, the gameplay is practically the same between the 2 games. Replace plant with Gallic warrior from Asterix village and zombie with roman “Et Voilà” you get Asterix: Total Retaliation.

Is Asterix: Total Retaliation a clone or a cool game that took some inspiration from Plants vs Zombies ?

Let the game run and do stuff when you have enough money. It mostly a wait and see game so let it run in background and have some fun when you come back.

Time travel knight

Time travel knight is a html 5 made for the molyjam by Glitchy Pixel, the game pretty neat considering it was made for a game jam and has simple control.

You are a knight who has just awoken in a ruined world, having survived an enormous explosion. Near you is a time machine with a note attached.

Plants vs Zombies 2 : soft launches in Australia and New Zealand

You know it been delayed but our friends from down under are lucky to get a hand on this one. You can check the following video from touch arcade to see what the game play look like (seem pretty similar to the original game to me)

Safe sex with friends

After hooking your friend on word with friend like that report from Zynga  time to get busy. And there the game just for you, “Safe Sex With Friends”.

The game humorous and sexy name it not the only thing that well thought out, the gameplay is actually very intuitive since it’s played like word with friends / scrabble but with a twist, instead of letter you play either body part or a protection (barrier), you have to make a chain instead of a word.

It features the most adorable drawings of jitterbugging dental dams and smiling members of the male and female anatomy you’ll see.

Plant vs Zombies 2 delayed

Remember a weekly post talking about Plant vs zombies I sent you a while ago ?

I was saying that the new Plants vs zombies game was coming out in july but we now have new its been delayed for later this summer.

Contrat: Evolution or Contrat on mobile

It seem all our good old retro game are coming back on mobile and konami is bringing back to good old contrat on iOs.

I haven’t bought it and they didn’t gave me a free trial but I really wonder what the control are like, that game was really tough with that the 30 extra life cheat.

I did a quick check around the web to find nice new and upcoming mobile game. Here a quick list :

Sonic the Hedgehog (2.99$)

Sega made a new sonic game for iOs and android, it’s not free (2.99$) but it worth a look if you’re a fan of the franchise. Check out the full review at Inside social game here. (Full Review)

Defense Technica (free/0.99$)

Defense Technica despite having a really weird name is a full flesh out 3d tower defense like there is a million of them. The graphic are actually really nice for the ipad.  Where you put your turret is on predefine spot on the map and you use your tower or barricade to bloc some path from your enemies. You check  the video they made, it’s awesome and will give you a idea of the gameplay. (Full Review)

Kingturn rpg (free)

Kingturn is a nice tactical RPG that look a little like final fantasy tactic (that I’ve talked recently) you move each turn your troops and you can cast spell. From the prologue campaign you have access to a few class, the main character is Nicolette a mage and her follower are warriors, archers, a paladin, a trickster, and summoner. From the enemy you meet you already know that there is more class available has you will progress (knight, wizard, thief, etc)

The prologue campaign is free and the full campaign can be unlocked for $4.99.

Plant vs zombie 2 (free)

While there is no shortage of zombie game (link to previous post), plant vs zombie was a fresh take on the tower defense and zombie genre at the time it came out. The formula might seems a bit rehash but since I’ve liked the original game I will probably give a shot to this one too.

It seems that it will be free with in-game purchase and it’s come out on the july 18th.

If you liked the original you should definitely check it out when its out.

Terraria (?.?? $)

I love terraria, it’s like a 2d minecraft game with boss. I’m very happy to know that there is a mobile version of the game coming. If you’re fan of this game or you just want to try it on mobile, you will only have to wait until this summer to get a grip on the mobile version.
