The Flappy bird went away

After Flappy bird went away developer / apps makers rushed to elance to build the clone that going to rules them all.

It generated a game jam just like the previous candy jam.

They are even tutorial to show you how to do it. Here is a nice one with sprite builder.

Here some recent notable clone

If you prefer the reverse gameplay squishybird is for you, instead of navigating through pipe you have to squash all the bird that try to pass the pipe.

By the way check the great article from Mattie brice about flappy bird, capitalism and all the rage around the game.

Being late on stuff is my thing but I usually don’t talk about the “legal” trademark trolling that happen around game. But after King decides to trademark the word Saga and now the word “candy” (what next ? crush to get the trifecta) I told myself are you Forking kidding me ?

Look like some developer decided to go up against King and thrown an impromptu game jam has sprung up in response to news.

The Candy Jam was thrown together by developers Caribou (@caribouloche) and T-Wave (@uuav).

Developers submitted links to their games, along with images and a description, through the Candy Jam Tumblr page before the February 3rd submissions deadline.

Here a some of candy game from the jam:

Candy Puzzle Saga

Candy Avoid Saga (Keybol)

Candy’s Crushes Saga

Candy Crunch Legend

Final Fantasy VI

For those who don’t know one of my favorite game of all time Final Fantasy VI is out on android and iOs. It come out with “improved” graphic and hopefully with the extra goodies of the gameboy advance version (Dragon Den’s, new espers, etc)

I’m big fan of this game, I’ve even recently finished the gameboy advance version. I find that the game might be a big expensive at 15.99$ for a mobile game, but If you think about it the original game was around 60$.

Dragon Sky: Final Fantasy meet Clash of Titan

It seems that Square Enix is going to be inspired by Supercell’s Clash of Clans with its upcoming RTS Dragon Sky.
from the few images we got it seems that their mixing the artwork familiar Final Fantasy-loving crowd with the base-raiding gameplay of CoC, Dragon Sky has a lot going on.
It’s even have Final Fantasy XI composer Naoshi Mizuta attached to the project.

A large portion of Dragon Sky will focus on multiplayer battles and cooperative raid boss instances, but there is also a single-player campaign that doles out the story behind the events of the world.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is on sale for iOS and Android

If you’re a fan of the series and balked at the asking price, you can grab the game on iOS and Android right now for a cut-down price to celebrate the imminent release of Final Fantasy VI on iOS.

You can pick Final Fantasy IV: The After Years up right now for £7.49 / $10.99 from the App Store and the Google Play Store.

If you like all those collectable strategy game that seems to have appeared on mobile recently you are in luck, Atomic Brawl Deliver.

What the heck is Atomic Brawl ? It’s a free-to-play collectable strategy game (kind like MTG) where you use wit and skill to kick your friends ass and humiliate strangers online. Ok I’ve went a little to far here… But trust me, it’s a really cool game. It’s set on a hex-based board where you and your opponent take turns to deploy and move brawlers. You can use special items and squash enemies while ultimately try to destroy your opponent’s core.

The more you play, the more you earn point and unlock neat stuffs like cards, new core and beautiful girls. (all true except the girls…) With your new cards you can create custom deck and try to find synergy between cards and you core.

Still unconvinced ? check out the trailer :

For those who know me I’m a big fan of Starcraft 2 even though I’m pretty bad at it. So when I’ve heard that there is a RTS coming to the browser I couldn’t contain my self.  A group passionate gamers decided to create a platform to allow developer to build upon and from this platform they made a game call currently call project Atlas and it’s look pretty cool.

Revamped ‘Dragon Fantasy’

Originally launched way back in August of 2011, Dragon Fantasy is a 8-bit fantasy “à la” Dragon quest. They recently made a revamp of the game and turn those old school 8-bit graphic into better 16-bit graphic, new audio, achievement and new dungeon.

If this sounds like the type of game you’d like to add to your iOS device of choice, and you enjoy questing in the olde style of 8-bit gaming, you can download it from the App Store for $7.99 / £5.49

Note that a sequel is coming to iOs soon too 🙂

Space chick

Have you ever felt the need of going to space and save cuties, well if it’s the case Space chick is for you. Space chick is a space (Duh!) game where your heroes jump from planet to planet using their gravity  (like in Angry bird space) and save chick stuck on asteroid and other planet. Beware of monster that will try to knock you off and grab your chick for themselves.

The gravity system makes even this simple platforming technique a lot more interesting. One-tap controls for jumping also make Space Chicks an easily accessible title.

It seems that some of you really liked my article on Heroes of Steel so I decided to go through some of my list of rpg/ medieval games sitting in my bucket list to satisfy your taste for glory.

Heroes of Loot

When I first heard about Heroes of Loot it made me think of hack, slash & Loot an indie game I got in a Humble bundle. Limited choice of character with each have their own unique stats, randomly generated dungeon, monsters & loot.

But after seeing the preview and playing the free version I realized it’s much more related to the good old and fast spaced Gauntlet. Even the heroes are the same, the good old tank warrior, the wizard, the sexy Valkyrie and the long range elvish Archer (or Ranger) but you can unlock new characters by playing. They have all different base attack power, rate of fire, defense value, magical potential, and XP acquisition speed.

Puzzle and dragons

One of the most popular and profitable games in Japan finally reached some western audience, Puzzle and dragons is ready to wreck it in the western world.  Now, users in the UK can see what all the fuss is about. GungHo’s free-to-play game is finally available on the UK App Store. It should be available on Google Play shortly.

In Puzzle & Dragons, you recruit a team of Pokemon-style monsters, then head into dungeons to take on enemies.

Today feature two games featuring female heroes. I always liked girls who can kick ass as long it’s not mine.

Match Girl

You are a little girl making her way through dark passageways. It’s so dark, in fact, that you can’t see unless you light a match. But YOU ONLY GET ONE per level!

huge-city-fight

Match girl is a game made by DDRKirby and xellaya’s in the Ludum Dare. I’m really impress with the result that game could be a great game on device where you could unlock level with in app purchase or something.

The game can be beat in a few minute it’s took me 7 minutes to beat it with 3 death and 4 retry. I took me less time to beat it than to write about it 😉

After playing to much Hack slash n loot I’ve decided looking for some game with a medieval feel. Here what I’ve found for you

GRAIL

You only get one button in GRAIL make good use of it. Timing your move and your attack is everything in this game, you go through a dungeon filled with trap, pit and skeleton.

huge-city-fight

Playing GRAIL can be really frustrating, you sometime don’t jump at the right time, your not near enough an enemy and miss it, the enemy don’t. I got tired after awhile but go for it and give it a try. You must give Paul credit though, for crafting a game like that in only 48 hr.

Paul Lawitzki’s GRAIL is a Ludum Dare 28 entry check out the game on is site: Play GRAIL

Heroes of Steel – A grim adventure for a Tactical RPG

Heroes of Steel is a old style turn-based tactics RPG in which you lead a group of four unique characters. You chose your characters and lead them to epic glory through the game well crafted story.

I’ve just installed the game. At first you get to choose your heroes you can change there classes in some cases but you need to pay to unlock the other classes. You end up in a dungeon and you need to escape out, the wizard already know a secret tunnel but you got to fight your way through the guard.

Moving can feel pain at the beginning specially when you are not in combat but once you understand how to send your character at the right place with a double tap then hold your golden. Combat are turn base you get to either start before or after the enemies. You play all your character together and  the enemies attack all at the same time which makes doing a surprise attack (or not getting surprise) super important.

The game is free but you need to pay if you want further episode after the demo, you have in app purchase to buy new classes.

Check out the teaser video it seems to be a very cool game.

This game is available on mobile device but not out yet on pc (may 2014).
