dragon quest 8 logo

Dragon Quest VIII is by far my favorite game on the PS2 and I’m trill to see it coming back on mobile device. Hundred of hours of story, fight and grinding in a beautiful and massive world.

Dragon Quest is well-known to have defined the JRPG genre so don’t be surprise by finding everything’s know from your beloved JRPG. DQ VIII battles reflect that more than anything else, the encounters are invisible and random, and the fights are turn-based. However DQVIII added an useful new thing called the tension meter, which allows you to use a character’s turn to charge up for a powerful attack. Tension actually makes this one of the easier Dragon Quest games, but you still have to remember to use buffs and debuffs to your advantage if you want you don’t want bad surprise.

Battle & Skills system
Unlike some the proceeding and following DQ game, there isn’t a job class system in Dragon Quest 8. Instead, when you level up, you get points that you can put towards any of five different categories. When a certain number of points are put into each category, your character will learns a new skill or ability.

Skill trees should be planned for the whole party. Thin air is a great move but getting it for three character is redundant. Not getting a critical hit move on just Hero or just Yangus is perfectly fine but getting critical hit skills for neither of them can cause trouble in the postgame, especially if Angelo did not get charming look. A staves build in which Jessica can use caduceus has more value if Angelo has gone down swords which has no focus on Angelo’s healing role. Your party is a team, not a sum of individuals.

Check out this post from gamefaq for more info on skills.

There much more than that, the classic casino is there, there a battle arena, a hand full of side quest and the Alchemy system to bang your head on.

Dragon Quest VIII is a solid game that will take probably 70 hour & more to complete and probably 100hr + if you want to complete all the post game quest. Some might say the game is a slightly strange fit on mobile devices, specially with to lost of voice acting and the hardware limitation, but it’s definitely worth playing.

Humble Indie Bundle Bee X :D

A new humble Indie Bundle (Humble Indie Bundle X) was out a week ago and you got only one day to get it 🙂 (being late to post news and review is my thing)

Great game in there, specially if you go the extra mile and pay more than average, I personally got Hoard and Reus, I do really like the concept Reus where you are a god that have the control of mighty that help you build a planet and grow a civilization.
Hoard is pretty cool too, you’re a dragon that raid villages and cities to have the biggest hoard of all dragons. There is different mode, capture the princess, vs other dragons, coop.

Basic game :

To the moon

To the Moon is an indie Adventure RPG, about two doctors traversing through the memories of a dying man to fulfill his last wish.

Joe Danger 2: The movie

Picking up where the chart topping, award winning “Joe Danger” finished, take the world’s most determined stuntman to Hollywood, on the set of the greatest action film ever made. “Joe Danger 2 The Movie” is the game that allows you to out run an avalanche as a skiing secret agent, take on laser spewing robots whilst flying a jetpack, or even become a water-skiing, sky-diving, quad-biking, dinosaur dodging jungle adventurer.

Papa & Yo

Papo & Yo is the story of a young boy, Quico, and his best friend, Monster. Monster is a huge beast with razor-sharp teeth, but that doesn’t scare Quico away from playing with him. That said, Monster does have a very dangerous problem: an addiction to poisonous frogs. The minute he sees one hop by, he’ll scarf it down and fly into a violent, frog-induced rage where no one, including Quico, is safe. And yet, Quico loves his Monster and wants to save him.

Runner 2

Runner2 is divided into five themed worlds, each with fourteen regular levels and five bonus stages for a grand total of ninety-five. The goal of each level is to guide the chosen character to the end of the level without striking an obstacle or falling off the screen. The character runs automatically, and in order to arrive safely at the finish, the player must perform various simple actions such as jumping, sliding and kicking, as well as more complex moves including hanging from rails, deflecting projectiles with a shield, and slide-kicking.

Extra (if you pay more than the average bidder):

Hoard

In classic medieval fables, knights would travel the kingdom in search of dragons to slay and treasure to take. What a mean thing to do!

Let reverse the role here and take the controls of the antagonist and burn down those village because we can.

Reus

In Reus you take control of nature through the hands of mighty giants. You possess all imaginable powers over nature! There is only one thing on the planet that you do not control: mankind, with all their virtues and and all their vices. You can shape their world, but not their will. It’s your responsibility to maintain a balance in which man is not overpowered by nature, and nature does not fall to man’s greed

Other notable extra games :

Strike suit zero

Toki Tori

Surgeon Simulator 2013

I can across a game that looked good but the controls are so abysmal that I say arrrg lets just forget about it.

The name of that game is Dragon conquest and our quest for dragon supremacy start here at max game.

tittle

There 2 mode the conquest mode you customize your dragon and you after go in each region to fight other dragon. I don’t know what happen when you win since I never won a fight in that mode, but each day (try) the dragon in the regions get tougher and you don’t, so once you get beaten you must stop playing, pretty stupid I say.

There the arcade mode were you get a dragon and you pick a dragon to fight, this one the dragons can be actually beaten, I managed to win but once you won there nothing you just go back to the title screen.

Dragon fight

dragonfight

You see the bar at the top left corner you have a cursor moving in all the bar and it has to land in the black zone give a successful hit. The bar is moving so fast that is actually hard to land it there.

If you value life don’t try this game is pretty bad…
